Tel Epic #37 Sign Up^h^h^h Complete!

Postby PonderThis » Mon Jul 18, 2011 6:09 pm

I was going to wait a while before starting #37 but I've had another one of my weird ideas.

In this version of Telephone Pictionary we're going to tell a story. But not like back in #26. Instead ...

First, I want to start with a stock set of characters. Just for the hell of it, let's go with these (and primarily these). Let me know if there's any favorite of yours missing from that list.

Second, this is how the game is played:

  1. Draws a scene.
  2. Describes that scene.
  3. Draws what comes next.
  4. Views Drawing #1 and #2 and describes the "story so far".
  5. Draws what comes next.
  6. Views Drawings #1, 2, and 3 and describes the "story so far".

Etc. In order for this to work, everything must be shunted through person #1. Well, the drawings at least. As you can see, if you draw a picture you can't just send that picture on to the next person since you won't have all the preceding pictures (by design). So whenever you finish something, send it ONLY to me. I'll have to keep on my toes on this in order to keep this going.

The reason I'm using stock characters is to make it easier for the person describing each scene. And if you're drawing you can choose to continue the previous scene or stick in a "Meanwhile, across town" sort of thing.

So let me know if you what y'all think. If I get enough people on board I'll do it, and if not then I'll send the MIB around to do the flashy-thing to everyone.
--------------------
OK, I have a sign up list. Enty and binks both mentioned time constraints so I put them up top.
1. Ponder Drawing
2. Binks Describing
3. enty Drawing
4. EJ gets drawings from step 1, 3, describes the "story so far".
5. Clueless Drawing
6. chrism gets drawings, describes the "story so far".
7. MD Drawing
8. James gets drawings, describes the "story so far".
9. jvcc Drawing
10. Skimbs gets drawings, describes the "story so far".
11. Null Drawing
12. loofah gets drawings, describes the "story so far".
13. ZP Drawing
14. syg gets drawings, describes the "story so far".
15. Dusk Drawing
 16. Le Grand Revealing!

I'm not so concerned about filling text slots as I'm thinking that, due to the nature of this thing, texters can "double dip" fairly easily.

I think this is a good idea, and I'd like to sign up for a drawing.

I am prepared. Give me a picture, but an early one because if this turns out to be one of those ones that lasts for like two months, well, I won't be here in two months. I want a picture so I can shoehorn Lewd Butcher in somehow.

I'd be up for it. Variety, why not? I'll happily take a line or picture.

INVOLVE ME.

My one concern would be that by having the line-writers able to view the whole thing, the meandering nature will be somewhat lost. Then again, perhaps the ambiguity of the pictures will still be enough. Or perhaps this will just be interesting and fun in a different way.

This is intriguing. I... am not sure... if I will have time? I will not have internet for a bit, and will be busy moving/doing renos/ yadda yadda. Hm. I will do this if I can get in before August 15 :)z
Any by "this" I mean whatever. Write, draw.

That is a valid concern. I guess this is an experiment of sorts. I'm wondering if we can tell a story of sorts, get "involved" with the characters, and still have wacky hijinks. A lot depends on how much -- or how little -- the text writer wishes to convey.

I don't see any harm in the telepic creator occasionally deciding to alter the rules a little for a bit of variety.

Do spambots now sign up to forum games? I assume she's not planning to actually play. She's quite happy to fork up our game for the noble cause of of, uh, viagra or something. Is nothing sacred?

Wait, did I volunteer? Um, okay, I'll do 11. If Nigel Tufnel can do 11, I can do 11.

I'll probably have to read the instructions again when I'm more soberer, though.

Well Binks and Enty both expressed some concern about time so I bumped 'em up.

I dunno. So I put you in anyway. :n/

Yay!
Null wrote:I'll probably have to read the instructions again when I'm more soberer, though.
The drawinators have it easy. You'll get a description of the action "so far" and simply make up what comes next.

Speaking of volunteering, I put Skimba in spot #10 and moved Ian down since he hasn't indicated whether he really wants in or not. If not, I'll substitute someone else in that place. And that then puts ZP in place #14.

If anyone wants to move up or hang back, feel free to trade places.
