I'll be sad to leave my now-married university friends again. Hopefully I'll see them again soon.

That sounds like the kind of nonsense people say. I understand it's not too bad, but its varied roots lead to inconsistencies that can be confusing.

Fanelian, doubling of consonents in English often affects the preceding vowel, as we don't have any accents to indicate stuff like vowel length. Not that it's especially consistent, but that sort of thing can figure into it.

We did used to have that to a larger extent, you know. They were just disposed of.

Totally can't blame us for accommodate.

I found learning english pretty easy, in comparisson to most other students. I've always suspected it is because I do know very good Spanish (I've read more books, in comparisson to most other students) and it's easier for me to make relationships between both languages. I'm always kind of "translating" concepts when I'm learning things -I mean that it's easier for me to understand things if I can make relationships, similes, etc, to other well known things. That's how I roll.

I don't think spanish is particularly difficult, as I've met several Americans that pick up the basics of Spanish rather quickly. Now, Mandarin on the other hand...

Yeah, same with gender and case. It's like throwing the baby out with the bathwater, except the baby, while okay to have around, wasn't that great anyway and the bathwater was completely rancid. An acceptable loss.

I don't think we discarded the extra symbols at the same time, did we? We could have kept them had we wanted to...

Yeah, I'm not especially fussed about making sense. I doubt it all came about as part of some kind of mass linguistic overhaul by the Illuminati. I really have no idea what kind of pressure might have caused stupid spelling in UK languages that apparently isn't present in others. Maybe it's the doing of such institutions as the Académie française. I have no idea if other countries have similar language-standardising bodies.

Returning from two days of socializing to an empty flat, busy friends and absent family is quite the come-down. Perhaps it's time to start developing a life.

James, if you find out how that "getting a life" thing works, let me know, I could use one.

Spanish has the "Real Academia Española" (Spanish Royal Academy - it's in Spain) which is the most renowned organization regulating Spanish language's standars. I just learned that Mexico has it's own Academy, so that gives you an idea... (Fun: If you want to look up for a word in their encyclopedia, it redirects you to the RAE's dictionary  ).

I love not having to worry about that potential anymore. Whoo! Go defective innards! It's your birthday, it's your birthday...never. *does the cabbage-patch and the running man*
However, I used to be an avid condom haver/user and advocate it highly. Someone doesn't "like" wearing them? Oh well....no sex time for them. [/slightly preachy]

No, sadly enough.

LOL yes, it's a reply.

Oh Jeevles. Guys will tell you condoms feel like crap, but you know what feels worse? GONORRHEA probably.
Drinking, drug taking, unsafe sex.. I'd be a hypocrite if I said anything, really. Just be careful and stay in control, yeah?

Clueless, best of luck.
If it helps, imagine me standing behind you, looking over your shoulder.

Come to think of it, Jvcc, that goes for you too.
