Re: A whine and complain thread

I've sort of ummed and ahhed over whether or not to write this comment, but I've decided to make it. I'm actually trying to say something helpful and not be preachy. This will probably be the last thing I have to say. I get that this is a bit tricky because when you ask for advice like this and peop...

Re: This telephone pictionary is as many as four tens

Right, so you know how in some of the more recent telepics, it was often the case that some seasoned Spamusers would make a drawing that showcased some sleek, new, impressive drawing styles? Well, I'm now working on a laptop with nothing but MS Paint. It's 80% there, but my forearm is hurting an awf...

Re: A whine and complain thread

Well fork a doodle doo for you two. Ian, do you think we mentioned our success to rub it in your face or to encourage you to not get discouraged because, hey, it can work sometimes? For me, it was the latter. I did not mean any offense by what I said. Ah - I certainly hadn't meant for my post to co...

Re: BLURT thread

I was driven to read some old posts (James' sig thread, prompted by the memory of 'ooey gooey worms'), and oh old times. I recall this forum during my university days. It was my internet home, where I had to consciously avoid posting while drunk. So many people, such amusement. I had it as my home ...

Re: A whine and complain thread

Are you given any real guidance from the other staff, or are they pretty much leaving you to get on with it, apart from to later say that it's not going very well?

Re: Movie log thread

I saw Spooks: The Greater Good tonight and enjoyed it more than any other film I've seen this year, although I was a big fan of the TV show. I'm not really sure why it's finishing now after only starting a week ago.

Having just watched House Season 5 on DVD, I have to say new Mysty looks like Chase. . . . Mystical Descent. . . . MD. . . . Chase. . . M.D. Huh. Oh, and you all suck, by the way. Except the ladies. And Saltine. Take that as you will. *aways* I'm not sure how I accidentally came across this post ju...

I drew a 'Cabinet Sanchez you were wrong!' really, really badly and barely legibly when this came out. I do hope somebody from on here - past or present - gets dealt it. :n/

Re: THE HAPPY THREAD

How's that lecturing gig goin'? In my own happy news, I submitted a draft article to an academic journal and got asked to revise and resubmit. The managing editor wrote, "Typically, a 'revise and resubmit' does not guarantee publication, but the editors do believe that the piece has a great de...

It would be lovely if just once, a news article did not feel the need to include a section along the lines of 'this irrelevant celebrity had this to say about the event on Twitter' or 'some irrelevant random person had this to say about the event on Twitter'.
