Re: Shh! Spammy Claus 2010

It was really fun going through the thread again. We should totally do that again this year. I fear I may be a bit too busy this year to coordinate (I'm due in 3 days), but I would love to participate. Would someone like to volunteer to coordinate?

Cheap and nutritious? Beans & rice, bean & veggie soup, daals, lentils and spinach with caramelized onions, refried beans.... Consider me the bubba gump of pulses.

Also, toaster ovens are a great alternative to regular ovens. I haven't used my regular oven in at least 5 years.

It's funny, then, that the people who refuse to acknowledge a transgender person's new gender would have qualms about making out with someone whose original gender was the opposite from their own. "Uh, Tim, I saw you kissing that Aaron guy. What was with that?" "Well, they used to be...

Finally got around to seeing The Guard tonight, before it left the theatre.
Excellent dark comedy. It reminded me of bits of Fargo, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and The French Connection.

Re: Random Thoughts

you're assuming that the equations that are at play are always X*Y=Z when in fact what you are describing is more like (X*Y) - (A*B) = Z where X*Y is your proverbial height of bounce and A*B is the energy transferred into each contact with the ground. obviously it's a lot more complicated than that...

Doctor put me on iron supplements. My stomach area has been hurting/convulsing for the last two weeks. But, I'M FULL OF GOD-DAMN IRON! Apparently, this is a fairly normal reaction. :barf: Do they sell SlowFE in your area? My doctor recommended that, and I haven't noticed any GI problems at a...

Fat free oreos are not good :( Good sugar free cookies: Voortman brand, most of them are delicious. I've only see them at Walmart, though. If you want a close approximation to original oreos without sugar, Murray's version is fairly good. The internet tells me there are actual Oreo brand cookies th...

While you're at it, note how they have identical nutritional facts, and both claim they roast their peanuts :P Yes, because they both contain peanuts and salt. Would you say all coffees taste the same because they all contain coffee beans? Behold how these are the same web site, link to each other,...

Did a quick googleabout, and it seems that Laura Scudder's Peanut Butter (a brand name with which I was unfamiliar) also goes by Adam's Natural Peanut Butter, and the well-known brand name Smucker's Natural Peanut Butter. No. Laura Scudder's is NOT Adam's, which tastes like they didn't even roast t...

Re: PB and J Bites

Skippy Natural Super Chunk is my PB of choice. Ingredients: roasted peanuts, sugar, palm oil, salt I don't see what's so natural about that. Laura Scudder's is the one and only true peanut butter. Roasted (to perfection) peanuts, salt. What's with the palm oil? Are you not willing to put in a littl...

Anyone know where I can get A4 paper in the US? If you want some fancy paper (think: "I'd like to pay 3 times as much as normal paper!"), my husband has a list of paper supply warehouses that he has been happy with. If you don't want fancy paper, then he can't help. EDIT: nevermind. You c...

Depending on how big your pond is, you may want to get either a fine fish net to skim them off the top (they eventually start rising to the top to get oxygen), or fish who will eat mosquitoes. Or both.

Wait, your degree is in nutrition? Mind if I ask you a question? Is "grazing" a good idea? It is, as I understand it, eating small meals throughout the day, but I don't know how frequently or how many calories are supposed to be in each meal/snack. Disclaimer: I do not have a degree in nu...

Oh wait, you're American. The rest of the world aren't being dicks when they talk poopcakes about American beer. It's a reputation firmly entrenched in truth. As far as I can tell, a good rule of thumb is not to drink anything you've seen for sale in more than one state. That's not necessarily true...

One thing that is difficult to see, as an individual (and especially when you're younger), is how all the things that are going on around you don't actually have much to do with you. You might be able to influence them in some small way, but most things (the workplace, the economy, other people) are...

IRL I say "MURR MURR MURR I AM NOT UNDERSTAND" or just "I AM NOT UNDERSTAND" often enough during conversations when I can't hear people well that I decided to let you all know that I do that. It's true. You can ask catass. It's so weird. I'd pretty much forgotten about that thin...
